Meet Ryan Watson, Partner and Head of Client Service at Clearspace.
Ryan’s journey to Clearspace is a story of taking bold leaps, embracing challenges, and helping shape the company into what it is today. Before joining Clearspace, Ryan spent over five years as a broker, navigating the complexities of the commercial office market. While he wasn’t actively looking to leave brokerage, a conversation with Clearspace’s leadership changed everything.
At the time, Clearspace was new to the market, generating buzz with its guaranteed pricing model—something that was unheard of in the industry. Intrigued, Ryan met with the company’s founder, Mark Goh, for what was supposed to be a casual conversation. Instead, he walked away inspired by Mark’s vision, the company’s disruptive approach, and the opportunity to be part of a truly innovative company that had the potential to change the industry.
Ryan decided to take a chance on Clearspace. He came in as VP of Sales, driven by the goal of shaping the company’s future and playing a leadership role. Fast forward nearly five years, and Ryan is now a Partner and instrumental in the firm’s growth and success.
Driving Growth & Innovation
From the start, Ryan was deeply involved in Clearspace’s strategy, helping build the company into what it is today. His expertise in commercial real estate, combined with his ability to understand market trends and client goals, has been a driving force in Clearspace’s evolution.
The clients and projects Clearspace is working on today were once just ambitious goals. Yet, through dedication, innovation, and an unrelenting focus on delivering value, Ryan has helped bring those goals to life.
Beyond the Office
For Ryan, teamwork extends far beyond his professional career—it’s been a core part of his life since childhood. A lifelong hockey player, he grew up in Cambridge, Ontario, and played junior hockey locally before earning a Division 1 scholarship to Western Michigan University. His talent on the ice also led to him being drafted by the Florida Panthers.
After playing a few years of professional hockey, Ryan transitioned into the business world, applying the same strategic mindset and work ethic to his career in real estate.
Outside of work, Ryan loves staying active and spending time outdoors. Golf, skiing, and spending summer weekends in Southampton on Lake Huron are some of his favourite ways to unwind.
Ryan’s also often traveling somewhere in Canada with his wife, Jenna, in the summer months, as she’s a busy touring artist in the Canadian country duo, The Reklaws.
A Vision for the Future
Ryan says he’s more excited than ever about what’s ahead. He’s confident 2025 is going to be a defining year for Clearspace, where the market will truly see the unbelievable capabilities of our talented design team, paving the way for Clearspace to continue serving larger and more complex tenant requirements while still delivering the immense value we’ve become known for.
His journey—from hockey to brokerage to becoming a Partner at Clearspace—is a testament to taking risks, embracing new opportunities, and always striving for excellence. Whether on the ice or in the boardroom, Ryan brings the same level of dedication, strategy, and passion to everything he does!
